There's More Than One Virginia Beach

Everyone has heard of the Virginia Beach - the east coast resort with miles of beach, boardwalk, attractions, hotels, restaurants, and vacation homes. While the Virginia Beach resort area is the state's largest and most developed, there are several other beaches to enjoy. Here's the run down on Virginia's beaches.

  • Virginia Beach - This is the resort area everyone knows, but did you know that there are actually several beach areas within Virginia Beach?

  • Norfolk - Norfolk's beaches are along the calm waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

  • Hampton - Buckroe Beach is the best known of Hampton's Chesapeake Bay beaches.

  • Assateague Beach & Chincoteague Island - Assateague and Chincoteague Island on the Eastern Shore are where you'll find wild ponies, a wildlife refuge, a National Seashore, and an island community with plenty of things to do and places to stay.

  • The Barrier Islands - The barrier islands off Virginia's Eastern Shore are probably some of the most unspoiled beaches on the east coast.

  • Kiptopeke State Park - A Chesapeake Bay beach and recreation area on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

  • Cape Charles - Many homes in this small town on the Eastern Shore are within walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants, and public beach.

  • Colonial Beach - A Potomac River beachfront community on the Northern Neck.

  • White Stone Beach - Small town located on the southern end of the Northern Neck with Rappahannock River beaches.
